Subhash Ghimire is Graduating!

Organized by Jen Lemen

In Tribute to Subhash's Mother, Sarswati

I met Subhash at the European Summit for Global Transformation in Rotterdam in 2009. He was making a presentation about his various projects in Nepal--a summer camp, a library, a newly established NGO. Thecrowd at the Summit loved him (how could you not?), but it was clear tome that this was just the beginning of what Subhash is capable of takingon--schools and camps a mere warm-up for the kind of social impact onlytruly great minds can manage.

On Saturday, Subhash will graduate from St. Olaf College in Minnesota. There will be no family members to celebrate him in the audience and no party in his honor when the last speech is given, but his father, siblings, friends and relatives will be cheering him on from around the world. Not only because Subhash is the first person from his family to graduate from college, but because they know and understand that Subhash represents the future for Nepal--a Nepal that will be governed with integrity and honor by the generation of young leaders Subhash represents.

In tribute to Subash's mother Sarswati who passed away when he was ten years old, I've created this fund in honor of the love and devotion she gave to Subhash that carries him to this very day. Will you join me in celebrating this important moment?

The donations from this Chipin will go to paying the remainder of Subhash's education bill, so he can be awarded his diploma before he returns to Nepal ($2000). We will use any remaining funds to purchase a digital camera for Subhash so he can properly document his work when he returns to Nepal.
